In contrast to conventional non-stick coatings, Thermolon is completely free of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and is manufactured without the use of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). It is heat-resistant to 850°F/450C. The aluminum pan has a black exterior, an extra-thick forged base for even browning and cooking, and is suitable for use with induction cooktops. The wok has ergonomic riveted cast hollow stainless steel handles.

Traditional woks are carbon steel or cast iron because they allow for the technique of cooking with high heat. I have a cast iron wok that is well seasoned and most foods do not stick but it is heavy and difficult to clean. I already have two of the skillets with the Thermalon finish and love them now I have the wok and I use it two or three times a week for quick stir fry dishes. The Thermalon finish allows you to preheat the wok until its very hot and it cooks beautifully, in addition, it has the non stick properties of Teflon only much more durable and its better for the enviroment as well as your health. The wok is a breeze to clean as food does not stick. Teflon when heated to very high temps gives off harmful fumes. That does not appear to be the case here.I've had this pan now for two and half months and have used it at least 10 times a week, cooking my breakfast in it everyday, and typically using it to make dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week. So I've put it through a lot of good use and it is still going strong. However, I feel the need to dispel a few rumors about nonstick cookware, and perhaps woks in general. 1) This pan is fragile. Treat it accordingly. If you read in the users guide (and I imagine most people don't) it spells out a few care instructions.
